What is the best auto insurance coverage for me?
The most basic coverage required is liability insurance. This coverage is required in most states, but depending on the state, there are different minimum limits of liability. Liability only insurance will pay for damages and bodily injury caused by your car up to the limits of your policy, however it does not cover your own vehicle if you are at-fault in the accident. If you have comprehensive and collision coverage on your car, then your vehicle is covered regardless which driver was at fault.
Comprehensive and collision coverage is the more expensive than just liability and it comes with a deductible. Deductible is your out of pocket expense to fix or replace your car if you are at-fault in an accident. In some cases when the other driver does not have any insurance or if it's a hit & run, you are still responsible for your deductible. Most common deductible is $500 but some customers choose a higher deductible of $1,000 to save money on the premium.
If you are financing your vehicle, your lender may require you to carry comprehensive and collision coverage for the duration of the loan.
Are you an Uber or Lyft driver?
Did you know if you did not notify your insurance company if you are a Uber or Lyft driver that you don't have coverage if you ride sharing app is on, but have not accepted a fare yet? While some ride-share drivers are thinking that Uber or Lyft insurance covers them as soon as they turn on the app, that is not the case. Their insurance only starts when you have accepted the fare. So if you are driving around with the ride-share app turned on and waiting for a fare, you are not insured during that time. Make sure to let your insurance company know that you are a ride-share driver so your auto policy can be endorsed to allow his type of usage.
Some insurance companies have restrictions when it comes using your personal auto for ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft and may require you to purchase a commercial policy.
Bargain Insurance Connection can provide you with personal auto insurance policy that covers ride-sharing services too. Let us know when you call us for a quote. Call us at 816.453.7722 for a free quote.

Different Rates For Different Vehicles:
Different vehicles have been assigned symbols based on the risk factors. Some cars are stolen more often than others, other vehicles cause more damage or sustain more damage in an accident and therefore claim payouts could be higher, resulting in higher insurance premiums for those cars. Other reason is the cost to replace a vehicle, luxury cars require premium parts and they come at a cost to insurance companies. The smaller size of the vehicle does not necessarily mean cheaper insurance, since compact cars can allow more bodily injury to the occupants in an accident. These are some factors that go into calculating your insurance premium.
You should research insurance coverage before you buy your car. It helps you to understand the actual cost and indicates those vehicles with good safety records. Bargain Insurance Connection will ultimately reward you for putting safety first.
Types of Auto Insurance Policies and What They Cover:
Liability Only Insurance:
Liability insurance coverage is typically mandatory by state law. Liability insurance coverage will protect you and your assets if you are found liable (responsible) for harming someone else's vehicle or their bodily injury. We can help you determine how much liability coverage is right for you. If you do not have adequate coverage in place, one at-fault collision with a luxury car that has passengers could mean waving goodbye to your financial dreams.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage:
- Uninsured Motorist Coverage pays for you medical bills if the at-fault driver does not have auto insurance. In Missouri and Kansas, minimum limits for this coverage is $25,000 bodily injury each person and $50,000 bodily injury per accident.
- Underinsured Motorist Coverage pays for your medical bills if the at-fault driver does have insurance, but their policy limits are not enough to cover all your medical bills. Typically this coverage needs to be higher than the state minimum.
Collision Coverage is part of the comprehensive and collision coverage or more commonly known as "full coverage". Collision coverage pays the damage or replacement of your vehicle after a collision with another vehicle or object. Collision insurance is required by the lender if you are financing your vehicle and it also comes with a deductible. If you own your vehicle outright, this part is optional and in some cases, depending on the value of your vehicle, it may not make financial sense to get.
Comprehensive coverages insures your vehicle against damages other than collision with another vehicle or object. A collision with an animal would fall under this coverage. Damages caused by wind, hail, fire, theft, vandalism or a falling object would be covered from this part of the policy. The comprehensive coverage is part of the complete coverage of your car. However, you can sometimes just purchase the comprehensive coverage and not collision if your vehicle is in storage or not being driven frequently.
